ABOUT
Nils Ostendorfs's works explore the intersection between noises, sounds and tones, placing particular emphasis on temporality, spatiality and immersiveness.
He is an internationally renowned trumpet player in the field of experimental music and has toured throughout Europe, North and South America and has performed at major festivals such as the Moers Festival, A L'Arme Festival Berlin,Sons d'Hiver Festival Paris, Jazz em Agosto, Jazzdor Festival Strasbourg and North Sea Jazz Festival. He released numerous records on European record labels for experimental music.
He has composed over 50 theatre scores for the directors Thomas Ostermeier, Falk Richer, Marius von Mayenburg, Yael Ronen and Mikael Serre at major European theatres such as the Berliner Schaubühne, the Theatre Vidy-Lausanne, the Toneelgroep Amsterdam, the Royal Copenhagen Theatre, the Dramaten Theater Stockholm, the Gorki Theatre Berlin, the Münchner Kammerspiele and the Residenztheater Munich.
In 2023 he composed his first movie score for the French movie director Roland Edzard.
Since 2022, he is studying part-time for a Master's degree in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts at the UdK Berlin.
